Becoming a partner

Dear potential College Goal Sunday partner,

College Goal Sunday (CGS) is an event supported by the Wisconsin Association of Financial Aid Administrators, a non-profit organization. The event takes place at various sites around the state in early to mid February. Financial aid and other professionals volunteer their expertise to assist families with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at each site. Since this is the form required by post-secondary institutions to apply for federal, state and some institutional aid, it is crucial that it be completed accurately and timely.

When Wisconsin’s College Goal Sunday began in 2006, the Lumina Foundation provided a three-year grant that covered the expenses of hosting the event for 2006, 2007 and 2008. Because Wisconsin’s events were very successful in reaching the targeted populations in each of those three years, the Lumina Foundation gave us the opportunity to apply for a three-year continuation grant. However, this grant is much smaller and will not cover the cost of offering the event at twenty or more sites in 2009, 2010 and 2011 as planned by the CGS committee.

As the funding from Lumina has decreased, it is necessary to seek and find partners who are willing to support this exciting event in the coming years. With your support, families across the state can help their children achieve their dream of attending college and making it affordable.

In each of the next three years we need to raise $67,500 (the annual budget for the event). We are asking if you and the institutions you represent are willing to provide monetary support for the next three years. Your support at any level will help insure that College Goal Sunday continues to grow and thrive in Wisconsin.
